The centre will play a crucial role in advancing myopia research

EssilorLuxottica, a global leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of ophthalmic lenses, frames and sunglasses, and Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital (SCEH), the oldest eye care institutions in India, have announced their collaboration in establishing state-of-the-art Myopia Centre of Excellence in the capital.

This collaboration brings together the expertise and resources of both organisations to combat myopia progression in children and to help protect their vision for the future.

Commenting on the launch, Narasimhan Narayanan, President, EssilorLuxottica South Asia said, "Partnering with Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital allows us to leverage their extensive clinical experience and combine with our revolutionary H.A.L.T. technology in Essilor® Stellest™ lens, that slows down myopia progression by 67% on average, compared to single vision lenses, when worn 12 hours a day."

Myopia, commonly known as near sightedness effects more than 1 in 4 Indian children and if not treated early can cause significant vision challenges when the child has grown up. The Myopia Centre of Excellence powered by Essilor® Stellest™ lens, aims to revolutionise the approach to myopia management and treatment by integrating cutting-edge lens technologies with the highest standard of patient care.

By combining the optical innovation prowess of EssilorLuxottica and the clinical expertise of SCEH - the Myopia Excellence Centre will be at the forefront of myopia research, education, and treatment. It will provide a holistic approach to myopia management, utilising advanced diagnostic tools, advanced lens solutions, and personalized treatment plans to address the specific needs of each child.

The Myopia Excellence Centre dedicated towards detection, education, counselling, dispensing and follow up will be supported by a team of renowned ophthalmologists and optometrists, who specialise in myopia management. This multidisciplinary team will collaborate closely with patients to provide tailored treatment plans, monitor myopia progression, and offer innovative solutions to slow down its advancement. The centre will also play a crucial role in advancing myopia research, publication of scientific papers, and collaboration with leading academic institutions and industry partners.
