Telangana is set to launch a dedicated Life Sciences policy in the coming weeks, marking a significant step towards strengthening the state’s leadership in the sector.
The announcement was made by Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary, Department of Industries, IT, Electronics, and Communications, during the launch of Tenthpin’s new Life Sciences facility in Hyderabad.
Speaking at the event, Jayesh Ranjan stated that the upcoming policy will chart a bold new growth path for Telangana's Life Sciences industry. It will drive advancements in emerging domains such as cell and gene therapy, genomics, biologics, precision medicine, peptides, digital innovation, and advanced R&D.
“Hyderabad has emerged as a global leader in Life Sciences and Pharmaceuticals, with over 1,800 pharma manufacturing units and the world’s largest vaccine manufacturing hub. The city is home to seven out of the top 10 global life sciences companies. The new policy will further position Telangana at the forefront of cutting-edge innovation,” he said.
Highlighting the growing importance of Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT), Ranjan noted that this next-generation treatment has the potential to cure rare and severe diseases like cancer. Telangana's new Life Sciences Policy will offer strong support for this sector, encouraging research and investment.
The government is also leveraging Hyderabad’s thriving innovation ecosystem, which includes 24 innovation spaces like T-Hub, to foster AI-driven advancements in Life Sciences.
Overall, with the upcoming Life Sciences policy, Telangana aims to further solidify its position as a global leader in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and AI-driven healthcare innovations.
